Cultural Competence App - Cultural Competence for iPad & Reviews

This app is a self study module to learn about culture and the ways and
means of dealing with cultural differences. However do not think that it
offers ready made solutions. What it does offer, is a series of principles,
knowledge and handles which you need to apply to your situation and in
particular your own person. In that way you will have a much better
understanding of culture than just performing a trick and will reach a much
better mutual understanding with the persons you are dealing with.

The app is based on 25 years of experience in 35 countries as well as
teaching and training on culture and internationalization for more than 17
years, including the publication of several books on these topics.

After three introductory pages, the app explains what studying culture
implies (recognizing the difficulties enhances understanding) and then
discusses definitions and concepts. The next section deals with cultural
differences between states, the most aggregated level of culture. Because
values are at the core of culture, a separate section is then devoted to
this concept and its consequences. These topics come together in the section
devoted to preparing yourself. In addition the app contains some suggestions
for further reading.

The app includes exercises and questionnaires on stereotypes, national
cultural differences, values and communication, as well as some additional
documentation.
