iKUMITE is a set of three applications available for the iPod, iPhone and iPad according to your own specific needs in karate (athlete, coach, referee, official or head of a Dojo). This app is aimed to facilitate the work of karate coaches and referees when preparing your athletes for official competitions.

This is the club tournament /professional coach version:

1. A FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE EDUCATIVE TIMER: iKumite DOJO is for referees, head coaches or club officials that needs to use for club competitions the refereeing WKF rules and terminology (World Karate Federation). You can of course fully customize your competitive parameters and time durations according to your own tournament needs.

2. AN ELIMINATORY/REPECHAGE DRAW WITH FINAL TABLE: iKumite DOJO allows you to draw a tournament up to 32 athletes, including a memorized selection of your usual athletes, separated in two tatamis with a final table, and a clear repechage draw according to the Montreal System, as used by WKF referees in official tournaments.

3. A COMPETITION WIRELESS SCOREBOARD (optional): iKumite DOJO can be remotely accessed as a wireless scoreboard if you have any iPod/iPhone version of the iKumite application that will run as an intuitive, easy to use and convenient portable remote during your club tournaments (via bluetooth). The names of the competitors can be loaded from the eliminatory draw. A control table of the points and penalties on the iPad device allows also to directly correct the remote held by the referee or the coach.

WHI Sport Education publishes specialized solutions developed by professional sport scientists and high-performance coaches that are still active in the competitive field. WHI publications answer professional requests received by top level sport coaches to bring educative solutions targeted to sport club owners, semi-professionals and motivated amateurs. Before being released, all our publications offers the guarantee to have been tested for several months by sport professionals in renown universities environments and/or top academic sport centers then adapted according to their suggestions, and improved to make selected semi-professional educative solutions for everyone.

YOU CAN SUPPORT OUR PUBLICATIONS: Positive comments and rankings in the app store will motivate us for improving and focusing our solutions on sports that are not necessarily major sports. In case of suggestion or trouble, you can contact us via the button below («Assistance»), or via the link on the website provided, so we can answer to you personally in the better delay (we answer to all emails received). This will allow us to help you resolve the issues or eventually incorporate them into future updates release.
IN CASE OF ISSUE: Always ensure that you have refreshed the memory available for the app by closing it completely (also the logo in background for devices offering a multitask operating system) and then shutting down your device by pressing the top button for more than 3 seconds.
IKumite DOJO What's New

iKumite DOJO 2.0 (updated to iOS 5.1 + Retina iPad)

Recommended update

- RULES UPDATED (WKF, valid since January 2012):
1) The terms: Yuko (one point), Waza-ari (two points) and Ippon (three points) are now replacing the old annotation system.
2) Penalties give no more compensation points to the opponent (up to Hansoku-Chui).
3) Sai-Shiai as been removed and replaced by a direct decision vote (Hantei). A reminder of the vote procedure that must be applied by the central Referee as been included.

- NEW GESTURES: you can simply add or correct a point by directly touching the score screen: 1) To add a point: touch 1x on the visible score; 2) to removing a point: touch then slide out your finger from inside to outside the score box. While fighting the remote screen is simplified on the iPad to avoid any distraction, and make it very clear and intuitive for everyone to manage the timing, or rapidly correct a score point directly on screen while the referee is focused on the match (i.e. any dojo help, while knowing little -if nothing- about karate rules, can easily manage your remote scoreboard at the administration table during club tournaments).

- VISUAL ILLUSTRATIONS (FLAGS): New illustrations are showing Flags options for Penalties, as well as for Scoring, allowing to rapidly choose between: the scoring terminology (for the referee/SHUSHIN), the flags decision (as used by a judge/FUKUSHIN), or a simple graphic explanation (beginners using your app at dojo, or public following your match with an external screen). These illustrations are also now fully compatible with the optional iPhone/iPod wireless remote app (iKumite_PRO).

- BEGINNERS’ TUTORIAL: A better integration of the vocal tutorial for learning the scoring system has been improved to facilitate the use of the new terms for unexperienced students in refereeing.

- OTHER ADAPTATIONS: Stability improvement, bug corrections and increased ergonomic layout.

______________________________
INFORMATION - BRIEF REMINDER (WKF UPDATE):
In addition to the above rules adaptation, do not forget to practice the several other main wkf changes. Here is a brief overview:
- Hansoku-Chui for Cat. 2 penalty is directly recommended during the a-toshi-baraku period (last 10 seconds).
- Only the four judges with flags are now allowed to signal a valid point, but not the referee (exception to some penalties). The referee will have to validate a point (or a penalty) when TWO OR MORE judges’s flags shows a decision.
- Simultaneous scores (or penalties) are now allowed when TWO judges gives a decision for AKA and TWO other judges gives simultaneously a decision for AO.
- If two flags are awarding the same athlete but with a different score (or a different penalty), the lower score (or lower penalty) indicated will be applied.
- In Team kumite, in case of a final equal score (Hikiwake), and additional bout (with only one athlete, as if it was an individual match) will be done to decide the winning team.

========================================
IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not install this iKUMITE_DOJO update if your organization is still using the previous referring system (wkf January 2009 version). Our other remote app «iKUMITE» (not the iKUMITE_PRO version!) will remain active with the old WKF system.
