Chapter 779. Academy rules 2
Chapter 779. Academy rules 2
As for the academic faction, anyone who did not join the royal faction had to join it. The academic faction was more flexible and, even after joining it, they did not exert control over their members—compared to the royal faction, which was extremely internalized and controlling of their members.
Also, when a member of the academic faction got to the Rank 6 novice-stage Transcendent level and graduated, one could decide to become a professor in the academy, or even leave the academic faction and the academy. As for the royal faction, upon graduation from the academy after getting to the rank 6 novice stage Transcendent level, one had no choice but to fully move from the royal faction and join the ranks of the royal family.
Kailen did not rush to read the rest of the academy rules. He was in thought after reading this.
As someone who had navigated political landscapes—during simulations in the pocket world when he was in the light region of the universe, and also even with respect to experiences with various organizations during his time in the light region of the universe—he would be a fool to not know what this piece of information he had just read implied.
"The academy and the royal family are definitely not on good terms. The academy is most likely seen as a threat to the royal family’s power, and the royal family wants to eliminate them. The royal faction was set up right after the academic faction was set up. Clearly, the royal family did this to steal the terrifying geniuses who would join the academic faction, to the royal faction," Kailen mused.
"They are not just recruiting talents. Both factions are preparing for an inevitable clash by using these factions on campus to raise powerhouses for the inevitable clash ahead. According to what I’ve read, the royal faction seems more controlling and internalized. I can’t join them. Since I have no choice but to join one of the factions, the academic faction—which offers a lot of freedom even after joining—is the best place for me. Of course, the academic faction offering a lot of freedom and the ability to leave the academic faction even after graduation is also a method to attract the interest of a lot of geniuses into the academic faction."
Kailen decided he would join the academic faction. He went through the rest of the rules.
The academy operated on missions and reward systems. Depending on the difficulty of missions one took and completed, they would obtain contribution points. The amount of contribution points earned would determine the kind and quality of secret realms and principle fragment towers one could have access to.
Also, if one had a problem with another student—which required that one student had to die before the grudge was settled—one could enter the death arenas of the academy and engage in a death duel with them. Only when the opponent dies would the duel be finalized.
As for bullying of other students, it was frowned on. No transcendent in the academy had the time to go around bullying others or acting like an arrogant young master or a jade beauty when they could utilize their time to take on missions and obtain contribution points for mission completion. At least, the transcendents of the Venzula Empire Academy were all the cream of the crop who had unique mindsets fitting of Transcendents. They would not resort to such childish methods. If one had an issue that was worth fighting to death, you fought to the death, simple.
Also, the academy did not operate on a classroom basis. There were no lectures organized for students. It was like a civilized military camp where students learned everything through experience. Even the professors themselves were not transcendents who sat in lecture halls to lecture students. They participated in missions themselves and earned contribution points to obtain access into quality secret realms and principle fragment towers.
Of course, some students had voluntary master-disciple relationships with some professors who gave them some pointers on principle comprehension. However, Kailen did not see the need for something like that. Principle comprehension solely relied on one’s principle comprehension speed. What would some pointers from someone achieve?
Kailen stood up from the lounge and left the registration building after reading through the rules and some miscellaneous information on the academy. Following the map, he melded with the void and disappeared.

Kailen reappeared in residential district number five.
Lots of villas lined the place as snow fell across the place. The air was quite humid. Anytime someone spoke, it was as if vapor would come out of their mouth. The sky was blue and humid too.
Several Transcendents could be seen conversing with one another. Others were also silently moving past each other. The moment Kailen appeared, several stared in his direction. Many recognized him.
"A new student?"
"Oh... it’s him, the winner of the NGU national competition."
"All the winners of the NGU national competition who managed to enroll in the academy are not simple people."
"Oh, please... there are a couple of them who were not able to amount to much."
"I guess you have a point. The academy is a place where even those deemed geniuses outside can become so-so compared to others here the moment they enroll."
"But this Kailen Darkhaven, he’s the first Transcendent from the light region, right?"
"Yeah... but I don’t get why people are comparing him to Sage Ling Feng, the first Transcendent from our edge region?"
"Heh... it’s simple. It’s purely a historical and philosophical comparison. People are naturally programmed to think like that. If the first Transcendent from the edge region managed to become a powerhouse that stands at the pinnacle of the universe, then will the first Transcendent from the light region manage to do the same? You see that kind of thing?"
"Yeah, I get it now... Madam Know-It-All."
"But... you are the one who asked the question, right?"
"Anyway, let’s go and take our missions. No use thinking about others when it won’t make us strong."
"Yeah."
Kailen moved through the groups of Transcendents chatting about him and headed toward his villa. Eventually, he arrived in front of it. After he was scanned by the AI system of the house, he was granted access and ownership to the house. He entered it. The place contained everything a regular villa should have.
After Kailen settled in, he decided it was time to contact Julian. As for joining the academic faction, he would do that when he returned.
