I Reincarnated as The Protagonist's Best Friend

Chapter 92: A Small Time Skip

Chapter 92: A Small Time Skip

After getting back, Quash and Gabriella had a lengthy discussion about the Dungeon Core. And as expected, she knew about it as well. She was also aware who were after it.

Even though it is valuable, she didn’t think it was worth the effort to find it as she had no reason to. Her family already possessed one, and had been ruling one for thousands of years.

But now that Quash found one, she expressed the idea of creating something of their own. Something they could call entirely theirs.

And Quash could tell this young woman was very ambitious. Veeeery ambitious. So much so it could lead to trouble if not kept under check.

But what about him?

Well, he did not hate it at all. Because he himself was very ambitious. Probably more so than Gabriella herself, but a bit different than her.

Her plan was to bulldoze through trouble and develop with her family’s backing without hiding after they graduate.

But Quash thought differently. He wanted to establish their strength first before doing anything.

There is a lot of time before they graduate. Even though their thoughts differed a bit, they both dropped the matter for the moment. There’s nothing they could do anyway.

And after that, Quash freshened up, ate something light while cuddling Gabriella, and slowly fell asleep.

( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°)

7 days passed in the blink of an eye. The days were very productive and eventful.

The most productive time of Quash was his time with Gabriella. Within these 7 days, they got to know about each other to a very intimate level. They shared their likes, dislikes, secrets no one knew about, went on secret dates, and of course, made a lot of love.

Quash also told her about his past life. She didn’t say much at the time when he was talking. She didn’t deny it like most people did when he told the truth.

Quash could feel her emotions at that time and they were, surprisingly, neutral.

But even with her poker face, she couldn’t hide the fact that she was happy that he trusted her enough to share something like that with her.

But when she noticed him peering into her emotions again, he got bitten again, and then banned from looking into her heart.

As the good husband he was, he agreed because that really was a bit intrusive.

But aside from that, they have become very comfortable with each other.

Other productive works were going to the Administrative Office that overlooked ACP transactions.

ACP transactions were handled by the main formation covering the whole Academy City known as... well, the Academy City Formation.

That Administrative Office just overlooks it in case any errors happen or any students try some funny business.

He arranged a private meeting with a high-ranking employee, asked them to make the transactions with the captain anonymous, and then signed an NDA. A magical one of course. Normal paper and pen just won’t cut it.

(A/N: For those who don’t know, NDA = Non Disclosure Agreement... Basically ☝🤓)

The NDA included just two conditions. One that the employee must not disclose that an NDA was signed. The other was if someone tries to buy the identity of the anonymous person, they are to either stay true to their work ethics or disclose the physical features given by Quash—only if the employee is given a good amount.

And after he was done, Quash paid 5 Million ACP, leaving him with nearly 4 Million ACP in total.

It was a lot but necessary. And the reason he gave such a loophole was to distract both types of people: the type of people who will believe the information and the type that will be paranoid and question why the employee even went against their work ethics.

Going against one’s work ethics is a serious crime in Academy City. Only if caught, that is.

Another reason is for the employees themselves. If they disclose what he told them to, they will be literally handing over the control key to the person the employee may disclose the info to.

In other words, it’s a trap for the employee. And if the buyer signs a contract that protects the employee’s interests and provides safety, then they can choose whatever they want other than to reveal the real person.

Quash didn’t have to worry about anyone tracking back to him because he used his title’s First Priority Authority. He approached the office under the pretence of something being wrong with his transactions.

He just had someone talk to him in private using the authority.

And there was actually something wrong with it.

He created a malfunction by installing a subtle malware he bought from an anonymous Formationist. A.k.a., a hacker.

Academy City allows a lot of stuff. One just needs to know what they are looking for and where to find it.

As for scenarios like these never happening at all?

Well, that is a possibility much lower than those scenarios actually happening.

The Dungeon Core is a much bigger issue than anything else to certain factions, and they will do anything in their power to get their hands on one.

Because having a Dungeon Core means even a low-ranking, small kingdom can develop into one of the sovereigns of the Neutral Continent. It is that important.

So the powers that came to the Academy City to find it won’t hesitate to go to extreme lengths.

And after Quash was done with all the preparation of patching any way to him, he focused on the next matter at hand.

Getting his Magi Circuits.

And to get that, he needed an Alchemist. And no student was skilled enough to handle 2 Legendary Grade materials with many higher-grade sub-materials.

Quash had to burn through all of his ACP to just make sure the sub-materials were so trash that they hindered the main materials instead.

And boy, they were expensive. He had to borrow money from Gabriella because he only had about 100,000 ACP left, and still needed more.

She casually handed him 50 Million ACP because she had no use for them.

...Well, having a rich wife really helps...

But finding a skilled Alchemist was another task. But Quash knew of one. A professor not known by many because he wasn’t from a well-known academy.

The professor was known as the Salty Professor among the students because he almost always seemed salty.

That was because he was stuck in his research that will bring a revolution to the world in the future.

But that is not something the current Quash needs to worry about, since he wasn’t running a talent recruitment campaign at the moment.

The professor was also known for being a very passionate Alchemist. So when Quash arrived to him with 2 Legendary Grade materials and many more high-grade materials to work with, he agreed almost instantly.

And he did the work for free, just to make sure Quash doesn’t find anyone else.

And that’s how he got his Magi Paint made for free. And it was of Top Tier. Things could not have gotten any better. Life was great, and his wife was greater.

And the last thing he needed to do before he got access to the MagiCrafter class was to simply paint the circuits over his body.

He had to buy a map and Gabriella painted it on his body. There were many types of brushes and each stroke needed to be precise. Even without any painting experience, Gabriella nailed it in one shot, displaying the insane control she has over her body.

There are specialists for this type of work. And normally, the paint takes days if not months to dry off. The worse the materials, the longer it takes.

And any movement before the paint has dried off will result in wrinkled circuits once it is fully dried off.

So people stop eating, moving, and just put themselves into a temporary coma. They live off the nutrients pumped into their body.

(A/N: Basically... Life Support ☝🤓)

(R/N: Did we ask?)

(A/N: ...No... (; ͡° ʖ̯ ͡°).)

But within only 8 hours, the paint was dried off and the circuit was successfully established onto his spectral body. The same place or body that holds all his Dantian and stuff.

And the energy center of the Magi Circuit is located on the center of the chest, sternum bone, right above the middle Dantian.

The Magi Circuit is a 3D space that can hold and channel energy. And since it is absorbed into his spectral body, it is very much usable. If not, it would have been a lot harder to manipulate.

That’s why the path of the MagiCrafter is very expensive. But once someone can get past the money hurdle, the return is many times more if they can get good at what they do.

And after Quash was done with the circuit painting, he was ready to change his class to MagiCrafter.

He changed his class to a MagiCrafter without any delay. And after that, for the next few days, he and Gabriella became rabbits at night, and a lovey-dovey couple going on dates in disguise during the day.

And after the 7 days off period, Quash was on his way towards Duxford Academy entrance Ceremony.
