Chapter 613 Pursuit and Hunt

Chapter 613 Pursuit and Hunt

On Biluo Island, the sky had already darkened.

Qin Qing and Leng Yue darted through the mountain forests as helicopters flew constantly overhead, their searchlights sweeping the woods like beams from a blazing sun. However, thanks to the rich Spiritual Energy on Biluo Island, the mountain vegetation was incredibly lush, and towering trees tens of meters high were a common sight. The dense foliage provided perfect cover for Qin Qing and Leng Yue, who could evade the searchlights simply by ducking into a patch of bushes.

"The military has entered the mountains," Qin Qing whispered from the undergrowth. "We can use the terrain to hide, but we won’t last more than a few days if they conduct a carpet search."

"What I’m worried about is them using search dogs to hunt us," Leng Yue said gravely.

No sooner had she spoken than the sound of hurried footsteps approached. With Leng Yue’s power, the darkness was no obstacle to her vision. She saw a ten-man squad leading a police dog as large as a bull, heading directly toward their hiding spot.

"Did you have to jinx it?" Qin Qing asked.

Leng Yue rolled her eyes. Now was hardly the time for jokes. "We have to take the initiative," she said. "Staying passive will only get us caught faster."

"Kill them?" Qin Qing asked.

"It’s not time to have a complete falling out with the three major Judicator Families yet," Leng Yue shook her head. "We’ll only kill the police dog. As for the soldiers..."

"I get it!" Qin Qing grinned.

The two exchanged a look and then shot out from the bushes like shells. The ten-man squad, still tens of meters away, was slowly searching the nearby undergrowth with their dog when they saw two shadows flying toward them. Before they could react, Leng Yue had knocked them all unconscious. Meanwhile, Qin Qing killed the bull-sized police dog with a single punch to the head.

Leng Yue then watched as Qin Qing stripped the soldiers and hung all ten of them upside down from a tree. "What are you doing?" she asked.

"This makes it look like we’re having an easy time on the run," Qin Qing said with a playful grin.

Leng Yue’s face darkened. Young Mistress, you’re provoking the three major Judicator Families.

Though she grumbled internally, she didn’t say it out loud. "Let’s go. Tonight, we’ll hunt the search dogs and their handlers."

"Okay!"

And so, the soldiers and police dogs who entered the mountains to hunt Qin Qing and Leng Yue were in for a world of hurt.

...

Holding long swords, Xueman and An Bai hacked through the undergrowth blocking their path as they walked through the dark mountains.

"What’s that?"

Suddenly, Xueman saw something swinging from a large tree up ahead, accompanied by a continuous moaning sound. The two rushed over. When they saw the ten shirtless soldiers hanging from the tree, they both gasped in fury.

Xueman exclaimed, "Qin Qing and Leng Yue are too arrogant! This is a clear provocation, a show of force against us."

An Bai gritted his teeth and said, "They only killed the police dogs, not the soldiers. It’s a warning. They’re showing us they have the power to kill but choose not to. They’re making it clear they aren’t afraid of being pursued and think their pursuers are garbage."

Xueman narrowed her eyes. "It seems we need to call in Martial Artists to assist with the search. These ordinary soldiers couldn’t capture them even if they found them. They’d be taken out before they could even send a report."

"That makes sense," An Bai agreed. "Call for reinforcements immediately."

When Kristina’s father received Xueman’s call, he was so enraged it felt like his liver ached. Ye Xiu’s two wives clearly had no respect for the Judicator Families. He immediately called the King of the Eternal Kingdom and requested that he dispatch a large force of Martial Artists to Biluo Island to assist in the search for Qin Qing and Leng Yue.

「The next morning!」

Xueman and An Bai trudged limply through the mountains. It was not because they were exhausted. With their strength as Fourth Realm War Gods, they could run for three to five days without sleep and not feel tired. It was pure frustration. They were on the verge of a mental breakdown.

Over the course of the night, Qin Qing and Leng Yue had "hunted" countless search squads. They had not killed a single person; instead, they left every soldier hanging upside down from trees. Furthermore, they had stolen the signal flares from the search squads and would deliberately fire one into the sky before running off. By the time other teams converged on the signal’s location, Qin Qing and Leng Yue were long gone.

"They were supposed to be the ones being hunted, with us holding the initiative. Now they’re using our own signal flares to lead us around by the nose and have made us completely passive," An Bai said, exasperated.

"At this rate, the entire search party will be run into the ground long before we catch Qin Qing and Leng Yue," Xueman said with a look of despair.

"A large group of Fourth Rank Martial Artists arrived on Biluo Island an hour ago," An Bai said. "They’re on their way now. Once they get here, it’ll be doomsday for Qin Qing and Leng Yue."

"Let’s hope so," Xueman said wearily.

Just then, a voice came over their walkie-talkies. "I’ve found Qin Qing and Leng Yue. They’re roasting a wild rabbit."

Xueman and An Bai sucked in a sharp breath.

What? Qin Qing and Leng Yue had the leisure to eat breakfast while on the run? Having breakfast was one thing, but they were roasting meat! This meant they clearly were not afraid of the smoke attracting search parties. It was a blatant provocation!

"Let’s go!"

After getting the location, Xueman and An Bai raced to the spot where the two were supposedly roasting the rabbit. When they arrived, however, Qin Qing and Leng Yue were already gone. But on a nearby tree, a line of words was written:

"What is a happy planet?"

Xueman was speechless. An Bai was speechless. This was so damn infuriating!

...

At that moment, Qin Qing and Leng Yue were strolling along, a wild coconut in one hand and a roasted rabbit leg in the other, eating and drinking as they went. They did not look like fugitives at all; it was more like they were on a scenic mountain hike.

Leng Yue said gravely, "They can rotate their search parties and hunt us relentlessly, but we can’t keep running without sleep. We’ll burn out. We need to find a place to rest and recover so we can continue messing with them."

Qin Qing pointed to a mountain in the distance that towered into the clouds. "That place looks good."

Leng Yue’s eyes lit up. "That’s Sword Burial Peak. It’s rumored to be a forbidden, highly dangerous part of Biluo Island, which actually makes it the perfect place for us to rest."

So, the two of them headed straight for Sword Burial Peak.

It was still a great distance away, and the path was all mountainous terrain without even a trail, forcing them to trek over hills and ridges. They ran for over an hour before the sound of a helicopter suddenly filled the air.

"Damn, we’re exposed!" Leng Yue’s eyebrows shot up.

They were currently on the peak of a small mountain, making them an obvious target.

Qin Qing looked up. "They don’t seem to be firing a signal flare. Looks like the people in the helicopter are confident they can capture us themselves."

"Martial Artists?" Leng Yue asked.

"They must be," Qin Qing nodded.

"So, do we run or fight?"

Leng Yue frowned in hesitation. "The Young Master told me not to reveal my full strength unless absolutely necessary. If there are Fourth Realm War Gods or someone even stronger on that helicopter, I might be forced to show my hand. That would make the Judicator Families suspicious. After all," she added, "if I really were a Fourth Realm War God, Xueman and An Bai would never have been able to capture us so easily in the first place."

As soon as she finished speaking, she saw Qin Qing pick up a rock the size of a human head and hurl it at the approaching helicopter.
