Chapter 680: Take Our Time
Chapter 680: Take Our Time
"Hm? Oh, hey, Kai, you’re back! It’s been a while, at least for us-...huh? Wait, did you end up getting into a fight?" Came Ciel’s voice, as I shut the flew into the Pocket Dimension and shut the portal.
"Yes, I did, the Angel noticed me while I was spying on him," I replied, before letting out a slow exhale and continuing as I deactivated Enrage and Descent, "I did manage to use Appraisal on him and see most of his abilities in action, so I’d say it worked out alright."
"If you’re saying that, then I take it he isn’t overwhelmingly powerful?" Chimed in Cleo, as she walked over with the others.
"Yeah, you don’t look overly concerned, so is it safe to say that defeating this opponent is doable?" Added mom with an optimistic smile.
"I’ll explain everything in detail, we can afford to take our time. Ai, bring up a display with the Angel’s stats and abilities for everyone to see," I requested, before a display promptly popped up, the others all immediately turning their attention to it.
"Huh. I mean, a Power Level of 5,000,000 is far from low and all, but...compared to the Demon Lord and the Apostles, it’s kinda underwhelming," Mused Ciel in bemusement.
"Well, it’s not that simple. While there isn’t any kind of regeneration Skill in this display, the Angel can regenerate. I swallowed up his entire body in a black hole, and he fully regenerated from scratch in about five seconds after that," I sighed in response.
"Wait, seriously? Doesn’t that mean it’s impossible to clear this trial?" Chimed in Alkimia with a look of dismay on her face.
"Tch, are you fucking serious with this shit? What the hell, those fucking Gods are screwing with us, aren’t they?!" Snapped Leto furiously.
"Okay, chill, I never said it’s going to be impossible, you know. This was the case with the Demon Lord too, and he’s dead now. Based on what I saw, regenerating takes a fair amount of Mana, especially when he has to regenerate his entire body. His regeneration is slightly more Mana-efficient than the Demon Lord’s was, though," I informed them.
"Maybe so, but he’s got a hell of a lot less MP than the Demon Lord did. Let’s see, I should still have his details stored in my Appraisal...yeah, here it is. The Demon Lord’s MP was 20,000, four times the amount that this Angel has," Pointed out Cleo, before adding, "I’m more concerned about this Ascent ability. Maybe the Gods gave it to the Angels in response to your Descent ability? Which means, it’s probably a power boost."
"Mhm, I was thinking the same thing. But the Angel didn’t use it against me. He was about to ar the end, after I used the black hole on him, but I didn’t stick around to see it in action. I don’t know exactly how powerful he’ll become when he unleashes it, assuming it is indeed a power boost, so I figured the best option was to regroup."
"I think that was the right move. The original plan was for you to just use Appraisal and then retreat, after all," Spoke up mom thoughtfully.
"Yeah, and the bigger the commotion, the more attention you’d have drawn. If too many Adventurers show up, it’ll become that much more difficult to take down the Angel while also avoiding innocent casualties," Added Ciel with a nod of agreement.
"So, what about these so-called Divine Arts, Lux and Divine Lightning? Did you see them in action?" Cleo asked me.
"Yeah, I did. Divine Lightning is insanely powerful, it’s several times more intense than regular lightning. And I have a feeling that Elemental Immunity won’t nullify it, so keep that in mind. As for Lux, it’s basically concentrated light. It inflicts physical damage and is pretty blinding too, it erupts with a bright flash upon impact."
"Those abilities do sound powerful, but shouldn’t be anything we can’t deal with. The Demon Lord had a much wider arsenal, and some seriously broken options in said arsenal. This Angel’s skillset is a lot more limited in comparison," Responded Ciel, as she glanced at the display again.
"Uh, not to sound superstitious, but saying stuff like that could jinx us. And, just to be safe, we’re better off overestimating the Angel, rather than underestimating him," Remarked Alkimia sheepishly.
"Mhm, agreed. He seemed pretty cocky and confident when I fought him, though he wasn’t particularly skilled, he was just relying on his sheer speed and strength to try and overwhelm me. If we fight him long enough and get used to the speed and timing of his movements and attacks, we should be able to bridge the gap with our skill and experience.
That said, we should consider that his confidence isn’t baseless, he might have enough power in reserve to back it up. Of course, there’s every chance that it’s overconfidence and arrogance instead, but we should assume there’s more to him that this display suggests," I nodded, before adding, "By the way, exactly how long was I gone for? And how’s the training going?"
"Well, to answer your first question, it’s been about five months in here since you left," Mom informed me with a wry smile.
Right, it was about two and half hours by the time I returned.
"As for the training, Alkimia’s made some pretty insane progress. Still a lot of room for improvement as far as combat ability goes, but she’s maxed out her stats and her mastery and control over her Magic has improved tremendously," Remarked Ciel, patting Alkimia’s shoulder with a grin.
"Yeah, um...besides you asking me to blow you up all the time, the training has gone really well," She nodded dryly.
"And Leto?" I inquired, glancing at him as he clicked his tongue and averted his gaze.
"Well, his combat skills have improved some, but as for his Power Level, not so much," Responded mom, a frustrated look appearing on Leto’s face.
"Hey, you don’t need to feel bad. It took me a ton of time and effort to raise my Power Level to its limit, it’d be unreasonable to expect you to have made significant progress in such a short amount of time. Alkimia’s case where she can get stronger just by using her Skills is basically an outlier as far as growing stronger through Systems is concerned," I remarked with a smile.
"Tch, whatever. I don’t care, doesn’t bother me one fucking bit."
Yeah, that’s real convincing.
Well, I don’t have time to ease his insecurities. More importantly, if Alkimia has maxed out her stats, then...
