Chapter 205: Lies
Chapter 205: Lies
Scarlett’s POV
It had been two days since I returned to the Full Moon Pack, and I had chosen to stay completely indoors. The triplets would each take turns coming to my door, trying to talk to me. Every single time, I sent them away. Respectfully, they obeyed. Not once did any of them try to force their way in.
But today, the sun was high in the sky. Despite the air conditioner humming gently in my room, I felt absolutely suffocated. I couldn’t stand being trapped inside the four corners of my room for another second.
Sighing deeply, I pulled on a simple tracksuit and a pair of sandals, then stepped out into the hallway.
The halls were completely quiet. I walked down the stairs to the main living room, passing a few staff members I used to know. Now that the truth was out—now that everyone knew my parents weren’t cold-blooded murderers but had been part of a hidden plan—the pack members looked at me differently. Their eyes held a mix of guilt, respect, and deep curiosity.
As I approached the back doors, the sounds of heavy grunts and clashing weapons echoed from the training yard. Out of pure curiosity, I decided to go check out the warriors. Goddess, how I missed training.
Walking over to the edge of the field, I saw hundreds of warriors sweating and sparring. But my eyes immediately fell on Leo.
Standing right before him was Bianca, his wife.
My heart sank into my stomach at the sight of her, but what followed made me furrow my brow in confusion. I was close enough to hear their voices over the noise of the yard.
"This marriage will be over by the end of the month, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it," Leo told her, his voice cold and final.
"Leo..." Bianca pleaded, her lower lip trembling.
I frowned deeply. He was annulling his marriage? But she was pregnant with his child. Even though he didn’t know it yet, then my mind raced with a massive question: Why would Leo not know Bianca is carrying his pup? An Alpha is supposed to instinctively feel the presence of their own bloodline. The bond should have alerted him by now. It made no sense.
Bianca turned and walked away, looking completely defeated. As if sensing my presence the moment she left, Leo looked straight in my direction.
Our eyes met. He swallowed hard, his tough Alpha expression instantly softening when he saw me.
I didn’t turn around. Instead, I walked right over to him, stopped a few feet away, and folded my arms over my chest.
Leo looked at me, a small, tentative smile touching his lips. "Scar... you finally decided to leave your room."
I completely ignored his greeting, keeping my face deadpan. "You are annulling your marriage?"
He blinked, surprised by the direct question, but nodded firmly. "Yes."
"Because of me?" I asked, tilting my head.
"Not only because of you," Leo said quickly, stepping a bit closer. "But because I never wanted Bianca in the first place. I don’t love her, Scarlett. I never have. This entire marriage was a trap."
I let out a harsh, bitter scoff, the memory of Camila’s confession burning in my mind. "A trap? But you still fuck her!"
Leo’s forehead creased, his entire face twisting into a look of deep confusion and offense. "Touch her? What the hell makes you think I would ever touch Bianca?"
He took another step forward, his frown deepening. "Scarlett, I have never touched Bianca. Apart from the one time she drugged me and had her way with me three years ago—which is the exact nightmare that forced me into this marriage—I have never laid a single finger on her. Let alone fuck her."
He shook his head violently, looking me straight in the eyes to prove he wasn’t lying. "And it’s the exact same for my brothers. None of them have ever touched their wives."
So they were lying, I said to myself, the realization hitting me like a wave of icy relief.
No wonder the triplets couldn’t feel the bond of their pups. Because there was no pup. Those bitches just wanted to guilt-trip me into running away again. They knew they were losing their grip on the Alphas, so they invented the ultimate lie to make me pack my bags and disappear.
Leo watched my expression closely, his eyes narrowing as he noticed the sudden shift in my mood. "Why do you think I was fucking her, Scar? Did that bitch say something to you?"
"No," I lied smoothly.
I didn’t want to cause havoc right here in the middle of the training yard. Not yet. I was going to play along with their little game. I would pretend to those ladies like I actually believed them, just to see how far they were willing to dig their own graves.
"I was just asking," I added, my voice totally indifferent as I took a step back.
I turned around to leave, but before I could take two steps, Leo reached out and held my hand. His touch was warm, sending a familiar spark right up my arm, but he kept his grip gentle.
"You wanna spar?" he asked, a hopeful, boyish glimmer appearing in his eyes.
"No," I said, pulling my hand back and looking away.
"Come on," he pushed, stepping in front of me to block my path. A challenging smirk crossed his face. "I have watched you fight, remember? I know what you can do."
I wanted to refuse. I really wanted to just walk away and keep my walls up. But damn it... looking at the padded mats and the wooden weapons scattered across the yard, I realized just how much I missed this. My wolf paced eagerly in my mind, practically begging to be let loose after days of being trapped in a stuffy bedroom.
I looked back at Leo, putting on a fake frown. "Fine. But don’t cry when I put you on your back, Alpha."
