Chapter 316 316: Heaven's Equal
Chapter 316 316: Heaven's Equal
"You and your mom will travel around the entire planet until we arrive right in this very spot."
Huh? She wants us to travel around the entire planet. A planet that was four times bigger than Earth no less.
"This is the best way to experience the harshness of this world."
"How long will it take?" I quickly asked.
"That depends entirely on you. If you push yourself, then we can be done in about a year or two."
A year? I would be too late. The girls would've given birth by then, and Conquest would've arrived already. Those were things I couldn't afford to miss no matter what.
"There are also some rules we must follow. The first rule is that I won't be flying you anywhere. My job here is only to act as your guide and help you control your abilities. Though, umm… if you're tired, I wouldn't be opposed to carrying you by hand, since I never got the chance to hold you while you were younger."
"I think you should be fine."
Lilith looked a bit dejected by my words but soon recovered after that. Smelling a familiar scent, I raised my nose to the sky.
"Rain is coming," I said.
Lilith nodded.
"It's the storm I told you about. We still have a few more hours before it hits."
"We should find somewhere to shelter," I suggested, but Lilith shrugged.
"It's up to you."
With no opposition from Lilith, I decided to find somewhere where we could wait out the storm.
In truth, the real reason I wanted to find shelter isn't because of the incoming storm. There were just too many eyes on me, watching from all directions. I didn't know who or what was stalking us.
There were so many new scents that my sense of smell was being overloaded. Everything smelled new, so even if I managed to catch their scent, I wouldn't be able to tell if it was a creature, a tree, or even just a rock.
The ground of the forest was extremely slippery from the oils dripping from the trees. I stepped on a rock coated in the oil, and immediately my foot slipped, and unceremoniously, I fell to the ground.
SKREE!
Immediately as I did, a thunderous screech could be heard from the sky. A giant scaled bird with a beak as pointed as a javelin emerged from the clouds and dove toward me as I lay on my back.
A vertical line was drawn across the sky, and soon a loud explosion could be heard.
BOOM!
Dust and rubble were sent flying, and when it cleared, all that was left was me, standing above the dead creature. Lilith watched with her arms folded.
"Well, I guess that's one way to draw out a predator."
"This thing has been watching us ever since we arrived here. I think there are more of them," I said.
By slipping on the rock, I purposefully made myself vulnerable to draw out the predator lurking in the sky.
[You have slain a level 30 Dralis fire wing]
Lilith approached the dead beast and knelt down so she could get a closer look.
"It's just as I thought."
"What is it?"
"These beasts are used as mounts for a certain tribe that lives on Dracanis. Now they know we're here."
"A tribe?"
"Yes, it's an alien race that lives alongside us. There are a total of 13 different races living here, including us dragons. We've all adapted our own way of surviving on the planet and usually stay out of each other's way. Though dragons are the ruling race of Dracanis since we're the strongest, yet still the other races are still extremely…"
Alien races… Given everything that has happened so far.
"We must be deep in their territory. Prepare yourselves for what's to come."
I nodded.
"This area is too open. It's easy to get ambushed, especially if there are a lot of them."
With that, the two of us continued to look for a place with good shelter, but while we walked, I decided to ask Lilith something.
"Did you also train the others?"
Lilith gave a faint smile.
"By others, I assume you mean your siblings. I gave birth to them here and stayed with them so they could develop properly, then we went back to Hel. I taught them the basics of fighting and using their draconic magic, but that was it."
That seemed strange.
"If you weren't the one who trained them, then how did they develop their strength?"
"They all had their ways. Astrid was trained by my brother, while Andros went out to find his own teacher while he was young. Well, it's more like he ran away from home, and Lucifer forbade me from going after him."
Hmm? Andrus had his own teacher. From the way Lilith spoke, it sounded as if it wasn't Conquest or Lucifer.
"Was his teacher one of the four horsemen?" I asked after wracking my brain.
Lilith shook her head.
"It's someone immensely powerful. So powerful that he could even rival Lucifer. My brother has only known defeat twice in his life: once by Lucifer and once by this man. He defeated my brother, the king of dragons, and even stole Conquest's most prized weapon. My brother has never been able to live down the shame of that day."
"He's that powerful?" I asked in disbelief.
Lilith nodded with a look of pure conviction in her eyes.
"He is the only man that is said to be equal to heaven itself. The only man that is said to make angels bleed. I'm sure even you must know him. His fame travels across worlds. I would be surprised if there is anyone alive that doesn't know. Even Lucifer tried to recruit him once, but he came back empty-handed and never uttered a word about that man again. I think that is why he allowed Andros to seek him out."
There truly lives someone of that much strength? The way Lilith spoke, it was as if the man who trained Andros was God himself.
"Who is it?" I asked eagerly, no longer able to stand the suspense.
"It's the great sage, Sun Wukong."
